Biography

Name: Jason Ian-Vaughn Eckert Session and live musician, web designer, artist. Current active musical role: Bassist for Todesbonden. Background: Grew up in an artistic/musical family, had a dozen bands I created or was a member of throughout my teenage years, mostly thrash bands with such names as "Baphomet" (proved to be taken by another band from NY that was active at the same time, "Final Descent" (which the guitarist and I stole from a Samhain album) and "Fatal Conception". After having been in and out of bands for half a dozen years and never getting what I wanted from a band I focused on my own project Earth Dance Erotica in which all instruments were composed by me and a demo was started but I grew unhappy with it and trashed it and put the project on hold until I could afford a true studio. It was then that I got my first true chance to "break into" the 'real' music business in 1997 when I joined as bassist/partial-songwriter for the Black/Death/Thrash band Aurora Borealis which featured later to be drum god legends Tony Laureano(Malevolent Creation/Angelcorpse/God Dethroned/Nile/Internecine/Dimmu Borgir/Insidious Disease) and Derek Roddy(Malevolent Creation/Divine Empire/Council Of The Fallen/Nile/Internecine/Hate Eternal). After a few years and several CD releases (Full length and a handful of Dwell records tribute CDs) I split from Aurora Borealis, mostly due to creative differences though I remain friends with Ron, Derek and Tony. Around the same time and without any active band I became involved with Rain Fell Within which several of my friends had recently formed. Mostly I assisted the band with creative advice, running the merch table and filling in on guitar at times when they were in between 2nd guitarists. Not too long after I became involved in Rain Fell Within I became the bassist in a technical melodic death metal band called As The Sea Parts which featured future Brave founder Scott Loose and With-Hunt/Dying Fetus/Warthrone drummer Erik Sayenga. We began to record a MCD but due to unforseen circumstances and scheduling conflicts it was never finished. Though never officially disbanded the band remains on hiatus. After this I mainly focused on learning web design and creating and running sites for friends the most notable being Council Of The Fallen, Derek Roddy and Imperial Crystalline Entombment though I did record bass for a few projects and maybe one day these endeavours will come to be recognized. Currently I am an active member of the dark/celtic/renaisaince/world music inspired metal band Todesbonden which friend and former Rain Fell Within band mate Laurie Ann Haus founded. The music has described as a "metal version of Dead Can Dance". Presently we are playing some select shows such as opening for Therion and performing at Goth Stock after which time we will begin production of the debut full length release. In early 2006 I will begin recording my Earth Dance Erotica project again. After over ten years some of these songs will finally see the light!
